JP Getty Jnr Charitable Trust

How to apply

Before starting your application, please make sure you have read the Our funding section very carefully, as this outlines our eligibility criteria and provides details of the type of work we are able to fund.

It usually takes at least 6-9 months (although it may take longer) for us to award a grant, and we always advise people to apply to a number of different funders to help ensure that you raise the funds you need.

Step One

All applications must be submitted using our online form. We aim to tell you within 12 weeks if we are able to take your application forward to the next stage. You should note that the Trust will be permanently closing to all applications at 12.00pm on Friday 18th January 2013. If it is less than one year since your last application was declined, or less than one year since your last grant ended, then your new application will be automatically rejected.

We have tried to make our online form as straightforward as possible. You will be asked to provide:

Therefore, it may be helpful to have a copy of your charity's latest annual report and accounts to hand, as well as any other relevant documents about the work you are applying for, such as the project budget or background information explaining why the work is needed and how it will be delivered.

When you click on the 'Apply Online' button, the first thing you will be asked to do is set up an online account using your email address and password. All automatic messages related to your application will be sent to this email address, regardless of which email address you enter in the form itself, so please choose the address most commonly used by the person who will be the primary contact for your application. Once you have created your account, you will be emailed a link which allows you to sign in again at any time. Alternatively, you can always access your account using the 'Apply Online' button below.

After signing in, you will be taken to your account page where you are able to 'Start a new application' by clicking the link at the top of the page. You will also be able to view and amend any applications you have already started, and see a list of any applications that have been successfully submitted.

When you start an application for the first time, you will be asked to complete an 'Eligibility quiz'. This enables us to check whether your organisation and funding request fall within our current guidelines. Please refer to the Our funding section for more information, and if you are unsure, please check the FAQs page to see if your question is answered there.

Once you have successfully completed the 'Eligibility quiz' you will be able to begin your application. Guidance on completing our application form is given within the form itself, and you will also be able to follow links back to the 'Our funding' pages on this website, so you can refer to them as you go along.

Step Two

If your project is short-listed for a grant over £5,000, we shall email you to request more detailed information about your charity and the specific request you have made. After receiving this information we shall let you know if we are able to take the application forward. If so, the next step will be to arrange a visit or an extended telephone call to discuss the proposal in more detail. If your application is unsuccessful in reaching this stage we shall notify you by email.

Step Three

If your application is successful in step two, it will be presented to the trustees at their next available meeting. We do not release details of our trustee meeting dates. If you reach stage 3 of the assessment process we shall give you an approximate date by which you will be notified of the outcome of your application.

If you are making a request for less than £5,000, it may be possible for the trustees to award a grant between their quarterly meetings. However, you should still apply as described above.
