The Trust supports a very limited number of arts projects, and when assessing arts-related applications for funding we prioritise the ones that target the most disadvantaged groups, work to achieve long-term positive outcomes for the people involved, and aim to reach new audiences, especially groups who may not otherwise have access to the arts.
Many of the arts projects we fund have strong links to our Social Welfare priorities. Examples of the type of work we might consider include therapeutic arts activities for people with mental health problems, music and drama workshops for prisoners and young offenders, and creative writing and media projects for young people living in areas with few youth facilities.
Occasionally we also award funds towards purely artistic endeavours of the highest possible quality.
