We receive far more applications which come within these guidelines than the trust can afford to fund, In 2006, we received over 1,300 new applications, and were only able to fund 79. A further 87 grants were paid to projects being funded for a second or third year.

A very useful source of information is the Guide to the Major Trusts, published by the Directory of Social Change (Telephone: 020 7209 5151 / Website: www.dsc.org.uk). They also publish specialist funding guides, such as

• the Environmental Funding Guide,
